My Meriter Story

I Got the Treatment That I Needed

I want to thank the Meriter staff for saving my life. I was admitted to Meriter for pancreatitis stemming from alcoholism on January 2, 2010.

In 2009 I had been admitted to other hospitals on three separate occasions for the same problem. The other hospitals kept me for a week or so to treat my pancreatitis, but never dealt with my problem with alcohol, which was the main cause of my pancreatitis.

Meriter's professional and knowledgeable staff took the time and made the effort to treat me for the source of my problem. I was at Meriter going through severe detox for almost a month. Other hospitals would have just let me walk out, but not Meriter, they could see how severe my problem was and they did everything in their power to make sure that I got the treatment that I needed.

Although, I don't remember much of my stay at Meriter, my girlfriend has filled me in on what I put the Meriter staff through and I can't possibly thank them enough for all they had to put up with. I was told that the length and severity of my detox was greater than usual, but I could have never made it through without the caring staff and doctors that gave me round-the-clock care.

I don't want to leave out the social workers that did everything they could to help me get into a rehab program after leaving Meriter. After Meriter, I spent 6 weeks in rehab and have been sober for over 5 months now.

Meriter gave me my life back, and I can never thank them enough.
