I had a C-section in November and received wonderful care from the staff that took care of me. However, there was one staff member that stood out in particular. Mary, a nursing assistant went above and beyond to make me as comfortable as possible. I was experiencing a significant amount of lower back pain during the night, and after working with my nurse to receive an extra dose of medication, heat, ice, changing positions and moving around all in attempts to relieve my pain, I was becoming frustrated because none of our efforts were working. Mary was the one who helped me walk the halls (because I was too unsteady myself), and after realizing where my pain was and how much it was bothering me, she offered to massage my lower back. I took her up on her offer, and it was AMAZING!! While talking to her, I learned that besides being a NA she also was a licensed massage therapist. The 10 minutes she spent rubbing my lower back decreased my pain significantly and allowed me to sleep that night. Mary went above and beyond to make sure that I was comfortable, and for that I am very thankful.
