Stories About Meriter Surgery and the Intensive Care Unit

Perfect Combination for a Successful Recovery

Before I had the quad-splitting knee replacement on both of my knees, I suffered from knee pain and arthritis for five years. I wouldn’t go on long shopping trips, because my knees couldn’t handle walking on concrete. When I went to the movies, I would have to stand near my seat for five minutes after the movie to have my knees adjust from sitting for so long.

I was referred to Dr. Lemon for my first knee replacement, and am I glad I got the recommendation! Dr. Lemon was very straight forward with me. His skill level and experience is what makes him so good. Three months after my left knee replacement I had the same procedure on my right knee, also performed by Dr. Lemon.

The hospital prepared me for my knee replacement by offering a surgical preparation class that I attended with my husband.  The class was wonderful and accurately prepared me and my husband for both of my surgeries.

I was blessed to have my husband as my caregiver after surgery. Everyone needs a caregiver to help them along the way of recovery. A physical therapist came to my house and worked with me to get my range of motion back in my knee after both quad-splitting knee replacements. It was because of my physical therapist that I was walking well about a month after I had the procedure.
By attending a great pre-surgery Meriter class, having a skilled doctor, and a physical therapy plan; it’s the perfect combination for a successful recovery.
