Stories About Meriter Surgery and the Intensive Care Unit

I Praise Dr. Rogerson and Dr. Bowers

I was very limited to the type of activities I could do before I had the computer assisted, quad-sparing total knee replacement. My pain was severe.  I had broken my kneecap four months before surgery, when I tripped and fell as I was entering my home.

Before the surgery, Dr. Bowers gave me exercises to do.  I lost 30 pounds!  I attended physical therapy and went to pilates classes.  I was blessed with a good personal trainer who helped me before and after surgery.  Dr. Bowers did a great job preparing me for surgery.  I want other patients to know that if they follow the exercise plan that's suited for them, then surgery will go so much better.

After I had the quad-sparing total knee replacement, I had no pain.  I was walking a couple hours after surgery.  Being that I came out of surgery pain-free, I didn't need to use a walker.  The day after surgery I was walking up and down stairs.

I like to work around the home and like the feeling of knowing I can do things on my own.  Now I can climb a ladder without any problems.  I can ride my bicycle and polka dance.  I am 74 years old and can enjoy life!  I even plan to go snow shoeing this winter in Minnesota.

Two and a half years before my knee replacement I had a hip replacement, performed by Dr. Rogerson.  When I got out of surgery from having the hip replacement, the nurse asked me how much pain I was in, and I could truthfully say none!

I praise Dr. Rogerson, Dr. Bowers and the rest of their team.  I owe so much gratitude to Meriter and those two doctors.  They were excellent; I don't know what the Rogerson team could have done better for me.  Thanks to them, I don't have pain, and there's nothing else I could ask for.
