Stories About Other Meriter Departments

My

Back in 1981, I was a newlywed and had just been diagnosed with testicular cancer. I can remember the nurse telling me that a dozen others were currently being treated for the same diagnosis, but mine was the most advanced case.

Back then, my oncologist was Richard Carr, MD. He's retired now. But I know that the other folks who were significant members of my care team and who I will never forget are all still at Meriter. That says something about their dedication to caring for people.

The people I most remember are my nurses. They saw me at my worst and best. And the thing that is MOST AMAZING, is that all of these special people still work at Meriter today. I will forever be grateful to nurses Patty, Marsha and Pokey. And when I was in the midst of my chemo treatments, it was Patrick and head nurse, Sue. From the time of my diagnosis to the last chemo treatment, I felt everyone did their best to ensure that I was given the care I needed to beat my cancer. That was 27 years ago, and I am still cancer-free!

Nurses mean to me today, the same as what they meant to me back in 1981... they are angels.

I just wanted to say thank you to the folks who helped me along. Today, I am so grateful for the simple things... a sunrise and sunset. My good health. And the chance to tell my story. Thanks Meriter.
Jack
