NBC to Feature Meriter Heart Attack Drill

Meriter Heart Attack/Stroke Signs and Symptom wallet card

Do you know the symptoms of a heart attack? Would you call 911 immediately if you or someone you know is experiencing them?

This Friday night, November 19 at 10 p.m., NBC anchor John Stofflet will highlight a recent heart attack response drill that Meriter ran in coordination with the Spring Green Emergency Medical Service. Viewers will be encouraged to get a copy of the Meriter Heart Attack/Stroke card which details heart attack signs and symptoms and reminds everyone to call 911.

Meriter runs quarterly STEMI (ST elevation myocardial infarction) drills to continuously improve our patient care systems. Meriter is the only accredited Chest Pain Center in Madison and was the first hospital in Wisconsin to receive certification.

Special thanks to all Meriter staff involved including Joe Ketarkus, Meriter EMS Coordinator, Jeanne Pinnow, Level 1 STEMI Program/Regional Liaison coordinator, Dr. Brian Veit, Meriter ES, Dr. Peter Mason, Wisconsin Heart and Vascular Institute and Spring Green EMS Staff and Director Jerry Baryenbruck. Special thanks to Tim Phelps, from the Meriter cath lab, who stars as our patient!
