Over a century ago, Madison General Hospital began a training program for “pupil nurses”, which evolved to a nursing education program with clinical supervision. Nearly 2,400 nurses, almost all of them women, graduated from the program before it closed in 1982. The book tells the three-year process of molding professional nurses, a process best known to educators and mentors in the program; it also reveals a glimpse of the student nurses’ lives.
All proceeds of the book will go to Meriter Foundation – Center for Nursing Excellence. If you have any questions about the book, please call the Meriter Foundation Department at 417-5300.
