I wasn’t feeling well for months. I was in the ER three times in terrible pain with kidney stones. I had pneumonia in January and broke a rib in February. I am also a type 1 diabetic. My out of pocket cost was more than I could afford. I was sick with fear over not having the money to pay my bills. It kept me up many nights thinking I would lose my house over this debt. I applied for patient assistance. I received a letter a few weeks later stating that the entire balance was forgiven. I sat down at the kitchen table and cried. Thank you just does not seem to be enough. I have never been treated so kindly. Since I received this gift from Meriter, it has renewed my faith and made me want to be a better person and help those I can. I now live by the motto: Never take more than you need and always give more than you need to.
