for a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Meriter clinic in DeForest-Windsor. The ceremony was moved out of the wind to the DeForest Area Community Center. The clinic will be located on 5 acres at the intersection of Highways 51 South and 19 East.

The new 25,000 square foot building is expected to be completed fall 2011. Land and construction of the clinic will cost approximately $6.5 million.

“Locating this clinic here was an easy decision. We are very appreciative of the support we received from Village President Jeff Miller and his team,” says Jim Woodward, Meriter president and CEO. “With the completion of this clinic and our other new clinic in Monona, Meriter will be conveniently positioned to serve patients throughout the Greater Madison and Dane County area.”

The clinic will provide primary care services for both adults and children. As a special convenience to area patients, physical and rehabilitation therapy services, will be available at this site. In addition, obstetrics and gynecology physicians will be available for appointments at this site.

“This clinic will be a great place to receive care as well as practice medicine,” says Robert Turngren, MD, Meriter Medical Group president. “We are in the process of recruiting the physicians for this clinic. We expect to assemble a team of health care professionals that will exceed the needs and expectations of the DeForest and Windsor communities.”

Plans call for the clinic to open with 4 physicians and their support staff. When fully staffed the clinic will house over a dozen physicians and a total of sixty employees.

Kahler Slater is the designer and Tri-North Builders is the contractor on this project. Environmentally friendly building concepts will be used in pursuit of certification under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System, a prestigious honor for environmentally-friendly construction, offered by the U.S. Green Building Council.

will there be a pharmacy at this clinic?

      • Meriter says:

As of right now, we do not plan have a pharmacy in Meriter Monona or Meriter DeForest-Windsor upon opening. Although we will be continually asking for patient feedback and re-evaluting this option in the future.

        • anon says:

Thanks. I think that a pharmacy at this clinic would be a big help to patients who plan to use it, especially since this area is currently underserved. Please consider it as you continue to plan.

      • Jackie says:

Will this clinic have a x-ray department?

        • Meriter says:

Yes, both of our new Meriter DeForest-Windsor and Meriter Monona clinics will have medical imaging departments which will conveniently meet our patients’ basic diagnostic and screening needs.

For the convenience of our patients, we do plan to open with extended hours and then evaluate the Urgent Care option in the future based on our patients’ needs.
