Save a Life - Know Heart Attack Symptoms

Don't second guess - call 911

The most common heart attack symptom for both men and women is chest pain, but there are a number of other symptoms that can be related to a heart attack:

  • dizziness or light headedness
  • nausea or vomiting
  • shoulder, jaw or neck pain
  • breaking out in a cold sweat
  • extreme fatigue
  • feelings of anxiety

Recently, Cardiovascular Clinical Nurse Specialist, Marko Pease, talked to John and Tammy on Star Country radio emphasizing the importance of calling 911 if you or anyone you know experience these symptoms.

It is estimated that only 10 to 20 percent of people who go to the emergency room for chest pain are actually experiencing heartburn. The vast majority are having a heart attack or suffering from some type of heart disease.

If chest pain strikes, you're in good hands. Meriter's Chest Pain Center recently received Cycle III accreditation, the highest accreditation possible, from the Society of Chest Pain Centers. As Madison's only accredited Chest Pain Center, this certification underscores Meriter's commitment to providing quality, timely comprehensive care to patients experiencing a heart attack.
