Meriter Hospital's Neurology medical/surgical unit is a 17-bed specialty unit and is the hospital's designated Stroke Unit. Meriter Hospital has earned The Joint Commission certification as a Primary Stroke Center and a Get With the Guidelines – Stroke Bronze Award for its excellence in stroke care. The Neurology medical/surgical unit is supported by a full leadership team with the Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager, and Clinical Nurse Specialist.

In addition to our neurologists, our veteran group of neurosurgical nurses coordinate care based on your individual needs. All nurses take an annual competency examination that tests their knowledge and application of the latest medications, equipment and American Association of Neurosciences Nursing Standards of Care. Meriter's Neurology nurses are dedicated to a holistic nursing approach and play an active role in educating patients and their families.
