Meriter Pediatric Center
The Pediatric Center, located adjacent to the Emergency Department, is an 8-bed unit that centralizes care for children receiving emergency and in-patient services at Meriter Hospital.
Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, Meriter pediatric hospitalists will collaborate with a team of emergency physicians, physician assistants and nurses, all of whom are trained to care for children. The pediatric hospitalists are also available to support community pediatricians to ensure the highest quality of care during a child’s emergency visit or hospitalization.
The Pediatric Center was designed with the family in mind and includes a child-friendly waiting area. Each in-patient room is outfitted with a sleeper-chair, full bathroom and entertainment center in an effort to make an unexpected hospital stay as comfortable as possible.
“My daughter received excellent care. Everyone involved showed competency and appropriate compassion towards her. Every step was explained clearly to me. The doctor and nurses all did their jobs really well. Thank You!”
Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Newborn Intensive Care Unit is the best place for premature or sick newborns to receive the advanced care they need. Designated as a Level III NICU, we are recognized as a premier regional center for excellence in high-risk neonatal care.
Baby-Friendly Hospital Designation
Meriter Hospital is recognized as a Baby-Friendly birth facility through the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative. This initiative is sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to encourage and recognize facilities that provide optimal levels of care for breastfeeding mothers and their babies.
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
Congenital (birth) defects can have physical and psychological impacts on the growth of a child. Plastic surgery can help to improve or correct many birth defects. Working as a multidisciplinary team, Meriter’s Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery program and the child’s pediatrician coordinate the most effective treatment plan.
