Patients, who are uninsured or fail to provide us with adequate billing information, including proper managed care authorizations/referrals, may be responsible for the total payment of their bill. If you are uninsured or if you anticipate a large self pay responsibility, Meriter Hospital offers a variety of financial assistance programs to help you in resolving your financial obligations.
Meriter Hospital offers patients discounts on their balance for services for essential healthcare if paid within 30 days of original self pay billing. For uninsured patients a bill is typically sent within 5-7 days of receiving services. For insured patients, the 30 days is based on the first self pay statement date. This is the statement sent after all of your insurance claims have been adjudicated. Please contact a Financial Coordinator if you wish to take advantage of this discount.
Extended Time Payments
Meriter Hospital will allow patients to make payments over time to meet their financial obligations. Please contact the Patient Financial Coordinator to discuss this option. They can be reached Monday through Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm at (608) 417-5015 or 1 (866) 286-6727.
For years, Meriter Hospital has offered financial assistance programs to our community. Our financial assistance programs are available only after all third party resources for which you may be eligible are exhausted. This includes all insurance plans, workers compensation proceeds, government program eligibility, liability insurance, lawsuit settlements, probate distributions, and other options.
Patients are required to cooperate in securing all third party payer resources before a free care determination will be made. All patients may apply; however, not all services or patients may be eligible.
