Patient Center Wireless Access for Meriter Hospital Patients

Meriter is pleased to provide complimentary wireless internet access for all Meriter Hospital patients and their visitors. System Requirements To access the wireless network, you will need: Your own laptop, PDA, or other wireless-enabled device with a standard Internet browser and WI-FI 802.11 b/g capability. A proper operating system (Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac, Linux). User ID and Password To receive your user ID and password, call extension 7777 from the phone in your hospital room.

Technical Support If you have difficulty logging in or locating the network, call 1-800-478-4190 for technical support. Please note that as a free offering, Meriter cannot guarantee availability or specific rates of speed. Printing is not available.

Instructions for Connecting to the Wireless Network

• Follow the manufacturer's instructions to install and use your internal/external wireless network card. Note: A card that displays WI-FI approval should perform well. Installation requirements for specific cards vary by manufacturer. Please follow the manufacturer's recommendations when installing your card. Default settings for most cards are set to accept broadcast SSID (Service Set Identifier).
• Set up a separate profile for the Meriter Hospital wireless network.
• Enable your wireless adapter.
• Select Meriter-Guest (case sensitive) as the SSID or network name.
• No WEP key is used. Turn encryption type to off or disabled.
• Make sure:
  1. The channel is set to auto.
  2. 802.1X authentications are set to off or auto.
  3. The data rate is set to auto.
  4. The DHCP for your wireless adapter is on.
• Open your Web browser.
• Visit any Web site. You will be redirected to the Meriter Health Services Wireless Internet page.
• Read the Wireless Internet Use Policy.
• Enter the user ID and password you were given.
• Click the Submit button.

Please Note

Please note that your visitors can also use the Visitor Business Lounge, which contains computers with Internet access. Also, wireless access is not provided at this time for patients at the Meriter Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Hospital on Raymond Road.
