If you will be a patient at Meriter Hospital, most of the items you will need during your stay are provided for you. If you wish, you may bring your own robe, slippers and toiletry items such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, shaving and cosmetic articles. (If you are planning for a stay at the Meriter Birthing Center, read our Getting Ready for Childbirth section, which includes a specialized packing list.)
Also, all patients should bring their health policy cards (insurance, Medicare, medical assistance, BadgerCare or other) as well as any forms from their employers to be photocopied and kept on record.
Please do not bring large sums of money or highly valued personal items. You won't need more than a few dollars during your stay. If you do have valuables, please leave them with the Guest Services office staff for storage in the hospital safe. The hospital is not responsible for personal property or money kept in your room. For safety reasons, electrical appliances such as hair dryers and electronic equipment may not be used in the hospital.
