Vaccine to Prevent Cervical Cancer Now Available

WomanCare Clinic offers the GARDASIL vaccination shot for girls and women 9 through 26 years of age. GARDASIL helps protect against the diseases caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). The diseases include cervical cancer; abnormal and precancerous cervical, vaginal, and vulvar lesions; and genital warts.

The GARDASIL vaccine is given in three doses. The first dose is given at your scheduled date, the second dose is given two months after the first dose and the third dose is given six months after the first dose.

To schedule an appointment call WomanCare at (608) 417-5433. After school appointments are available for girls and teens. For more information, read the Patient Information about GARDASIL handout available on merck.com.

Minimally Invasive Hysterectomy Services

It's estimated that each year 600,000 women in the United States undergo hysterectomies (the surgical removal of a woman's uterus). This makes hysterectomy the second most common major surgery for women. The majority of these surgeries are performed using the traditional open abdominal method, which typically means a long recovery and visible scar. Fortunately, this is changing with minimally invasive techniques. One such alternative is Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy (LSH), which can transform the hysterectomy experience for most women.

Dr O'Connell is pleased to offer this service. To learn more, visit our Minimally Invasive Hysterectomy Services page.

BoneCare Program for Women of All Ages

Osteoporosis is a disease of the skeleton where the bones become brittle, making them easily prone to breakage. Osteoporosis is a significant concern today, in part because people are living longer.

General health and lifestyle factors affect bone strength at every age. It is never too early to focus on developing dense and high-quality bone content. In fact, we challenge people in their 20's to achieve a high peak bone mass, for as a person ages more bone loss than bone formation can occur. Older adults are challenged to minimize loss.

Our BoneCare Program offers a comprehensive evaluation of your skeletal health, a bone densitometry scan and an individualized treatment plan. A bone scan is a noninvasive test that estimates how strong your bones are and indicates your likelihood of fracture. To learn more about this program and who is eligible for the program, please visit our BoneCare Program page. To schedule an appointment call WomanCare at (608) 417-5433.
