Meriter Institutional Review Board (IRB)

Meriter Hospital Institutional Review Board (IRB) is responsible for protecting the rights and welfare of the human subjects who participate in research conducted within Meriter facilities.

All Meriter employees or affiliates who conduct human subject research must submit their proposals to the Meriter IRB for review. Reviews are required for research at all Meriter facilities and regardless of funding source.

Meriter has an agreement with the federal government to comply with the code of federal regulations that protect human subjects. The agreement also binds Meriter to ethical principles described in the Belmont Report. Meriter IRB considers federal and state laws as well as the Belmont Report when reviewing, approving, requiring modifications in, or disapproving research.
