Meriter's Clinical Research - IRB
IRB Review Fees

Meriter IRB charges a one-time $2,000 fee for industry sponsored protocols. This money is used for researcher education and underwriting continuing education for the IRB members. If you are doing research that is funded by a government agency, a foundation, or receives no funding you do not have to pay a review fee. For industry sponsored research here's what you do:

1. Make your check out for $2,000 payable to Meriter Hospital. In the memo space write "IRB Review" and your Meriter IRB Protocol Number.
    

2. Include a brief memo with the check that states:
   • The purpose of the check (IRB Review)
   • The principle investigator
   • The title of the protocol
   • The Meriter IRB number
   
   Send the check to:
   Meriter Hospital – Finance Dept.
   Attention: Linda Beglinger or Pam Lindsay

3. Make sure your check is in the Meriter Finance Office one week before your application materials are due in the IRB Office.
    

4. The IRB Office will receive confirmation when your fee is paid. This allows your protocol application to be processed and placed on the meeting agenda. To avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest, the IRB will not review industry sponsored protocols until the $2,000 fee is paid. The fee is for the review, not for the outcome of the review.
