Fall Assessments

Our therapists use a variety of standardized tests to evaluate patients with a history of falls and balance concerns. The therapists measure each patient's fall risk and evaluate their mobility. Treatment programs and recommendations address each patient's specific functional needs.

Driver's Readiness Program

This two-part evaluation helps determine an individual's ability to drive safely. For more information, please visit our Driver's Readiness section.

Wheelchair Fitting/Mobility Training

This clinic is for patients who use wheelchairs as their primary means of mobility and who require specialized seating. Patients receive assistance in acquiring new wheelchairs (power and manual) and seating systems tailored to their specific needs. In addition, wheelchair users with seating problems are assisted in finding solutions.

Swallow Study and Assessment

Our speech therapists provide diagnostic and treatment services to outpatients with swallowing problems. For more information, please visit our Speech & Swallow Therapy section.

Visual Perception Assessment

Our therapists use standardized tests and functional performance assessments to evaluate patients with visual disturbances including:

  • Hemianopsia
  • Field cuts
  • Double vision
  • Depth perception deficits

Patients receive information on how to modify their environment to accommodate vision deficits.

Gait Training with Lite Gait

This gait assessment and training uses a postural-control device that reduces the amount of weight borne by the patient. It can be considered for both children and adults with gait problems involving balance, posture and/or coordination. The device is useful for patients with varying abilities, and can be used by patients with CVA, incomplete spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury and Parkinson's disease.

Vestibular Rehabilitation

This service is for patients with dizziness and imbalance from diagnoses that include:

  • Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo
  • Peripheral vestibular dysfunction (labyrinthitis, neuritis and idiopathic dizziness)
  • Central vestibular dysfunction (Multiple Sclerosis, following CVA/TIA)

New patients are assessed for motion sensitivity and undergo an ocular-motor examination including dynamic visual acuity. This examination checks vestibular-ocular reflexes. Our therapists also examine each patient for balance and functional safety using standardized tests.
