 Cardiac Rehabilitation
For people who have had a heart attack, by-pass or valve surgery, angioplasty or stent, our cardiac rehabilitation program can rebuild strength and self-confidence.
Phase I - Inpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation
For patients in the hospital, our Phase I team provides periodic updates to patients' family members during open heart surgical cases. The Phase I team also provides ECG-monitored exercise, and both one-to-one and family teaching related to heart and peripheral arterial disease, risk factors, procedures, and recovery. Phase I services are continued through follow-up phone calls to patients and their caregivers at home in the first few weeks following open heart surgery.
Phase II - Heart Tracks, Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation
Once patients leave the hospital and go home, our Heart Tracks team provides ECG-monitored exercise, one-to-one nutrition and stress counseling, and a variety of educational classes that are designed to help patients learn how to reduce their risk for having another cardiac event. These one-hour classes are open to the public and include topics such as:
- Healthy Nutrition, including a food tasting class
- Exercise Plan
- Stress Management
- Learning to Relax
- Dealing with Depression and Anxiety
- Cholesterol
- Understanding Heart Disease
- Risk Factor Reduction
- Dining Out
To learn more about Heart Tracks and register, call (608) 417-6102.
