About Dr. Rogerson


John S. Rogerson, MDDr. Rogerson, a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, specializes in care of the shoulder, hip and knee with expertise in arthroscopic surgery, sports medicine, reconstructive surgery and joint replacement.

Dr. Rogerson was the first surgeon in Wisconsin approved to use the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing System - the first FDA approved hip resurfacing device. He traveled to Birmingham, England to train with Derek McMinn, FRCS, one of the orthopedic surgeons who developed the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing System and to Belgium to train with Dr. Koen DeSmet, one of the hip resurfacing pioneers.

As one of the area's more active total joint replacement surgeons, he has utilized state-of-the-art high air flow and hood filtration systems in all of his cases to lessen the potential for infection. He was one of the first surgeons in the region to utilize computer-generated custom, total joint replacements.

Dr. Rogerson has been an innovator in the area of arthroscopic surgery and has introduced several new techniques to the national Shoulder Arthroscopy Study Group. In addition to authoring several chapters in medical textbooks on arthroscopic surgical technique, Dr. Rogerson has given many presentations to national physician groups and has been particularly active in the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), teaching other surgeons about arthroscopic surgical techniques. Dr. Rogerson serves as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
