Education and SupportOur Breast Care Services Manager is devoted to helping you with any of your breast health concerns and promoting continued improvement of your care. She will educate you about breast health and be a contact person throughout the diagnostic process. Screening ToolsA screening mammogram is a low dose X-ray of the breast used to detect breast changes in patients who have no symptoms. A radiologist, specially trained in mammography, will read the films. In most cases, we will read your mammogram within a few days and send your primary care provider a report. We will send you a letter to inform you of the results of your mammogram within thirty days. Diagnostic ToolsSometimes a radiologist, after viewing a screening mammogram film, may wish to see additional views. This doesn't necessarily indicate a problem, but rather that a portion of the breast may need to be seen in more detail. This is called a diagnostic mammogram. The radiologist will read the diagnostic films immediately and send a report to your primary care provider. We will also send you a letter to inform you of the results.
