Lisa grew up in the Vilas neighborhood surrounding Meriter for much of her childhood. She obtained her Associate Degree in Nursing from Madison Area Technical College. After working for several years in cardiology, endoscopy and pain clinic, she decided to attend the University of Wisconsin – Madison for both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Doing so allowed her more opportunities to work in the field of geriatrics and rehabilitation medicine.
Lisa grew up in the area and was familiar with Meriter’s presence in the community. A friend of her mother worked at Meriter for over 30 years and spoke highly of the organization.
As a nurse practitioner, Lisa enjoys being able to spend time with her patients. She takes an interest in helping them find ways to restore their lives. Lisa also works with Meriter’s rehabilitation physicians and psychologist to offer more effective treatment programs, especially for those with chronic pain.
Lisa provides care services for inpatients and outpatients along with our rehabilitation physicians for stroke rehabilitation, geriatrics including long-term rehabilitation, musculoskeletal conditions and chronic pain patients. Lisa leads the multidisciplinary Post Stroke Clinic, screening patients at six months post stroke for any rehabilitation needs. Lisa provides care services in collaboration with the rehabilitation physicians for the Day Rehabilitation Center as well as consultations on Meriter inpatient units and other outreach locations.
Lisa enjoys spending time with her husband and three sons, traveling and attending sporting events, especially hockey games. Lisa also enjoys reading, attending performances at American Players Theatre and spending time at the Union Terrace. Lisa plans to resume running and hopes to eventually participate in a triathlon.
