Orthopedic Therapy

Meriter Physical Therapy has been providing outpatient spine, orthopedic and sports services in Madison for more than 15 years. At our four locations, our specialty-trained therapists evaluate and treat spine problems and orthopedic injuries. They also provide sports-specific rehabilitation.

Our therapists provide:

  • Chronic pain treatment and management
  • Cranial sacral therapy
  • Feldenkrais method therapy
  • Orthotics assistance
  • Strength and conditioning programs
  • Vestibular rehabilitation

We provide evaluation and treatment for many types of musculoskeletal and joint problems. Commonly treated conditions include:

  • Accidents, such as falls and other trauma
  • Tendonitis: shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, ankle
  • Repetitive motion injuries
  • Ligament sprains
  • Muscle strains
  • Bursitis
  • Pre/post surgical treatment for joint replacements (knee, hip and shoulder), rotator cuff repairs and ACL repairs
  • TMJ dysfunction

Our specialty-trained therapists evaluate patients for flexibility, strength, posture, gait and biomechanics. We provide customized treatment to adolescents through seniors so they can quickly return to their everyday lives.

Treatment include:

  • Use of appropriate interventions for reducing pain and inflammation, such as ultrasound, massage, iontophoresis and electrical stimulation
  • Education on correct posture, overuse/repetitive motions, computer work station setup and correct biomechanics specific to patients' activities
  • Exercises and stretches to improve patients' strength, balance and endurance
  • Use of exercise equipment to aid in the rehabilitation program
  • Development of home exercise programs to meet patients' specific needs
  • Information on available community resources

Return to Work
The Return to Work program is an evaluation and rehabilitation service for individuals who are injured on the job or whose personal injury affects their ability to work. The program also offers a full array of ergonomic and prevention services. Conditions treated include:

  • Back/neck injuries or post-surgical back repair
  • Shoulder injuries
  • Hand injuries
  • Cumulative trauma disorders
  • Pain syndromes

Evaluation and treatment methods vary depending on the patient's condition. Options available include:

  • Functional capacity evaluation
  • Prescreen evaluation
  • Strengthening and endurance program
  • Work hardening
  • Safety and ergonomic services
