Meriter Specialty Clinic provides Gastroenterology (Digestive Health), General Surgery, Neurology and Orthopedic Trauma services. The clinic is located in Meriter Hospital on the second floor.

Gastroenterology

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine that focuses on the health of the digestive tract, including the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon or large intestine, rectum and anus, liver, pancreas and biliary tract. 

Physicians who specialize in the treatment of digestive disorders are called Gastroenterologists. Meriter’s Gastroenterology team treats such conditions as Barrett's Esophagus, Celiac Disease, Crohn's Disease, Diverticular Disease, Gastritis, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)/Heartburn, Hepatitis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Peptic Ulcers and Ulcerative Colitis. 

Our physicians treat patients in either the Meriter Specialty Clinic or the Meriter Digestive Health Center.

General Surgery

General surgery, despite its name, is a surgical specialty. General surgical procedures are numerous and involve different areas of the body. It focuses on abdominal organs and their diseases, including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix, spleen and thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands.

Surgeons also perform vasectomies and deal with diseases involving the skin, breast and hernias.

Neurology

Neurologists specialize in diagnosing and treating neurological disorders of the human nervous system including the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. Our physicians care for patients with stroke, epilepsy, seizures, dementia, head trauma, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular diseases, radiculopathy, tumors or infections of the nervous system, sleep disorders, and headaches.

Orthopedic Trauma

Our orthopedic surgeon specializes in restoring the moving structures of the human bodies, such as bones, muscles, joints and tendons. They work to maintain and rebuild functions of a patient’s extremities through surgical means.

Orthopedic trauma patients often arrive through the hospitals’ emergency departments with broken bones from various types of accidents or sports injuries. An orthopedic trauma surgeon treats these bone, joint fractures and dislocations promptly.
