Palliative Care Forum


Michael Bernhagen, co-producer of the film series "Consider the Conversation" will provide a behind the scenes perspective into the making of "Consider the Conversation 2: Stories About Cure, Relief, and Comfort", a new documentary that examines the effect of American medicine's success on the patient/doctor relationship. Mike will: 1) screen and analyze several clips from film; 2) share moving stories from seriously ill patients and the doctors who care for them; and 3) shed light on the important role communication plays in helping both patient and doctor navigate the murky waters of severe chronic disease.

We will also hear from local physicians about their experiences with having the conversations” with patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Meriter's Palliative Care team with also share their experiences in working alongside the physicians to support and continue these discussions.

Screenings of the first "Consider the Conversation" film will be shown on the following dates leading up to the Forum. All screenings will be in McConnell Hall, 1010 Mound St. Conference Room 100. Screening Dates:
