Childbirth Basics

If you are limited in time and are looking for just the facts, Birth Basics is for you. A one-time, information-only class covering the very basics of labor including labor stages, basic terminology, and medication options. This is a lecture-oriented class designed for people who are looking for information. There is no hands-on practice done in class. In addition to this class, we recommend you also enroll in Baby's First Weeks to learn about newborn care, and Basics of Breastfeeding.

Important Class Information

• It is recommended that you beging classes after your first trimester is complete and plan to finish your classes at least 3 weeks before your due date.
• Registration fee includes 2 people - Having children or extra people attending these classes is prohibited due to the graphic content of some instructional material and dialog. 
• This class is eligible for reimbursement through Physicians Plus and Unity Health Plans. 
• This class does not include a tour of the Birthing Center. You must register in advance and separately for tours of the Birthing Center.
