Chest Pain Center
Meriter is proud to have Madison's only accredited Chest Pain Center. People who come
to Emergency Services with chest pain receive a rapid clinical assessment to determine
if they are having electrocardiogram changes, abnormal lab tests and are having a
heart attack that requires them to go directly to the cardiac catheterization lab for speedy treatment.

We admit people with no electrocardiogram changes to Emergency Services, where they
undergo a standard set of tests and lab work to uncover the cause of their pain. The goal
is to not admit them needlessly, and to not send them home until indications
are that they can follow up with their primary care physician or a specialist.
On average, 40 patients are treated in the Chest Pain Center each month.
