Meriter's Commitment to Quality
Community Health

Mom and PatientMeriter plays a significant role in the overall wellness of our community. We do our best to "pitch in" to find solutions to community health needs, whether it be through outreach programs and services, or by staying vigilant in keeping open access to the care we provide.

A prime example of this is Meriter Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, the only community-based inpatient child and adolescent psychiatry program in south-central Wisconsin.

Meriter also finds ways to serve as a catalyst for building and strengthening coalitions with other health and social service organizations. We are proud to be part of these collaborative efforts that match community problems with community solutions:

Seal Dane, Dane County's school-based dental sealant campaign, provides care to children who are "at risk" of developing dental decay. Meriter and Dane County Public Health collaborate in Seal Dane, which provides free sealants to eligible children and helps raise awareness of the important of dental health.

During the 2006-2007 school year, Seal Dane went to 12 area schools,
where it provided:

  • Oral health education to 2,221 students in grades 3-5.
  • Sealants to 428 children. The total number of teeth sealed was 1,462.

Since the program began in 1999, more than 16,000 children have learned why tooth brushing is important and more than 10,000 teeth have been sealed.
