About Meriter

Welcome to Meriter

I'm Meriter President and CEO Jim Woodward. It is an honor to lead an organization dedicated to providing high-quality healthcare in south-central Wisconsin.

Jim WoodwardI'm pleased to report that 2008 was an extraordinary year. Among our accomplishments, we:

  • Opened a second medical clinic, Meriter Medical Clinic-McKee. Drs. Casper, Kutz, Olajos and Pickney help extend Meriter's commitment to providing the community with better access to primary care.
  • Constructed new, state-of-the-art units for Oncology and Surgery that contain the latest technology and all-private rooms.
  • Opened two Meriter FastCare Clinics to meet our community's need for convenient treatment of minor medical conditions.

2009 is promising to be just as remarkable. We are entering an exciting stage of renewal, which includes:

  • Initiation of a full renovation and expansion of our Operating Rooms.
  • Enhancements to technology throughout our system, including the building of a new data center and enhancements to our radiology systems.
  • Growing the Meriter Medical Group. Currently the group consists of more than 50 providers with a focus on improving patient access and providing the best patient care possible. Meriter Medical Group seeks to be the destination of choice for patients, staff and physicians throughout Dane County and southern Wisconsin.

In 2009, we are continuing to:

  • Strive to make the patient experience as pleasant, convenient and comfortable as possible, with amenities that include room-service dining, wireless Internet access and CarePages. Most importantly, we are here to help you get well and get back to your life, as quickly as possible.
  • Enhance Meriter's facilities to provide a calming, healing environment equipped with some of the most advanced medical technology to help our physicians diagnose and treat a wide variety of conditions - faster and with greater precision than ever before.
  • Renew our commitment as a not-for-profit hospital by providing essential community services that otherwise wouldn't be available in the region, such as the Max W. Pohle Dental Clinic, the Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Hospital and the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program.
  • Maintain our position as a leading community steward of healthcare resources, returning approximately 5-7% of our operating income per year in charitable care to the patients we serve.
  • Inspire Meriter employees to build upon their strengths and hold themselves accountable for creating a healthcare system that is among the best in the nation.

As we continually look for ways to improve how we deliver healthcare, one thing won't change. You can continue to trust that we will focus on one mission...

To heal this day
To teach for tomorrow
To embrace excellence always
To serve our communities –
For a lifetime of quality health care.
