I'm Meriter President and CEO, Jim Woodward. It is an honor to lead an organization dedicated to providing patient-centered, high quality health care. I am most proud that our patients place us in the top 10 percent in the nation in terms of their overall rating of the hospital and their willingness to recommend us to family and friends. In 2013, I'm excited to share that Meriter will:
- Improve access to primary and specialty care by growing the Meriter Medical Group.
- Jointly sponsor community events with Physicians Plus. Meriter owns two-thirds of Physicians Plus Insurance Corp.
- Continue the renovations in the Birthing Center. More families choose to deliver at Meriter than any other hospital in the state.
- Renew our commitment as a not-for-profit hospital by providing essential community services that otherwise wouldn't be available in the region, such as the Max W. Pohle Dental Clinic, the Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Hospital and the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program.
I’m proud to share that 2012 was an award-winning year because Meriter:
- became the first hospital in the State of Wisconsin to be recognized as a Certificate of Merit Awardee with the American Hospital Association/McKesson Quest for Quality Prize;
- was named one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals® by Thomson Reuters, a leading provider of information and solutions to improve the cost and quality of healthcare;
- received the NRC Picker Innovative Best Practice Award for Patient-Centered Care;
- accepted the NRC Picker Path to Excellence Award for Patient Satisfaction;
- was named Modern Healthcare Magazine’s Most Wired Hospital for the 2nd year in a row;
- was chosen as the NRC Picker Top Performer for CG-CAHPS for Pediatrics;
- earned the eHealthcare Leadership Award for the 3rd year in a row;
- was named the Best Hospital by U.S. News and World Report for the 2nd year in a row;
- received the HealthGrades Specialty Excellence Awards for Cardiac Care, General Surgery, Joint Care, Stroke, Pulmonary Medicine, Gastroenterology and Gynecology for the 5th year in a row for all services;
- accepted the HealthGrades Women’s Health Award for the 4th year in a row;

- Meriter Hospital, a nonprofit, 448 bed community hospital, providing a complete range of medical and surgical services.
- Meriter Medical Group, a growing primary and specialty care practice group.
